IMAGE TOOL / 152

Bigger pixels,
honestly.

Enlarge an image 2×, 3×, or 4× with a classic high-quality resampler — no AI invention, no upload, no watermark. What you see is what you get.

How do I upscale an image for free? Add the image, pick 2×, 3×, or 4×, and download. This is a classic resampler, not an AI enhancer — screenshots and graphics enlarge cleanly; photos get bigger but won't gain detail that isn't there.

Image upscaler

The detail previews above show a 160×160 patch at 100% zoom — that's how to judge resampling honestly. Sharpening is skipped on very large outputs to keep memory safe.

What this tool does — and what it doesn't

This is a classic resampler: it computes new pixels from the ones that exist, the same family of math as Photoshop's "Preserve Details" or GIMP's Lanczos. With light sharpening on top, screenshots, logos, icons, diagrams, and old low-resolution graphics come out genuinely usable.

What it can't do: invent detail in photos. If you upscale a blurry face 4×, you get a bigger blurry face. AI upscalers guess at texture — sometimes impressively, sometimes wrongly. We don't guess.

When upscaling helps

When it won't

Heavily compressed photos (blocky JPEGs), motion blur, and faces at very low resolution stay soft — resampling can't recover what compression destroyed. If the result looks soft, try 3× instead of 4× (less stretching per pixel), or skip sharpening, which can amplify JPEG blocks.

Good to know

Output caps at 8192 px on the long edge and a safe pixel budget per device; the stats panel shows the effective scale when a cap applies. If you need the file smaller afterward — for email, Discord, or a portal — run it through the 1 MB or 500 KB compressor, or convert to WebP for a big size win. Starting from a phone photo? Crop first, then upscale only what you need.

QUICK ANSWERS
Does upscaling improve image quality?

It increases resolution, not detail. Screenshots, logos, and simple graphics enlarge cleanly. For photos, a classic resampler makes pixels bigger but can't invent detail — that takes an AI upscaler, which we deliberately are not.

Is this an AI upscaler?

No. It uses a high-quality classic resampler (like Photoshop's bicubic) plus an optional sharpening pass. Nothing is generated or invented, and nothing is uploaded.

How large can the output be?

Output is capped at 8192 px on the long edge and about 64 megapixels (16 on iPhone/iPad) so the browser can handle it. The tool shows the effective scale when a cap applies.

What sizes can I choose?

2×, 3×, or 4× the original dimensions. A 1200×800 photo at 3× becomes 3600×2400 — enough for most print and 4K use.
