Press record.
Keep the file.
Voice memos, interviews, practice takes — recorded in the browser, saved as MP3 or WAV. The audio never leaves your device, which is more than most online recorders can say.
How do I record my voice online? Press Record, allow the microphone once, and speak — pause and resume as needed. Stop, then export MP3 or WAV. Unlike most online recorders, nothing is streamed to a server; it all happens in your tab.
Voice recorder
The browser asks for microphone permission once; the permission prompt is your browser's, not ours. Keep the tab open while recording — a reload loses the take. Need to trim the ends or cut a segment? Export and refine it in the audio trimmer.
How to record your voice
- Press Record and allow the microphone when your browser asks.
- Speak — the meter shows your level; pause and resume whenever you like.
- Stop and export — MP3 for sharing, WAV for editing and transcription.
Why "recorded locally" matters
Most free online recorders stream your microphone to their servers, store the file there, and hand you back a download — which means your interview, medical note, or client call now exists on someone else's disk. This recorder uses the browser's own MediaRecorder API: the audio goes into memory in this tab, gets encoded here, and is saved by your browser's download. Open the Network panel while recording and you'll see nothing being sent.
Good to know
Long sessions are bounded by device memory — an hour or more on a laptop, less on a phone; save in parts for anything longer. For cleaner takes, record in a quiet room and keep the mic 15–20 cm from your mouth. If you need to cut the dead air or keep only a section, run the exported file through the audio trimmer — it also makes iPhone ringtones out of anything you record. Recording the screen instead of just your voice? The screen recorder captures video with mic audio.
How do I record my voice online?
Press Record, allow the microphone once, and speak. Pause and resume as needed, then stop and export as MP3 or WAV. Everything is captured and encoded in your browser.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No — unlike most online recorders, the audio never goes to a server. It is captured with the browser's MediaRecorder, encoded on your device, and saved by your browser's normal download. Open the Network panel to verify.
How long can I record?
Bounded only by your device's memory — typically an hour or more on a laptop. Save long sessions in parts, and keep the tab open until you export.
Which format should I pick — MP3 or WAV?
MP3 for sharing, voice notes, and anything that needs to be small. WAV if the recording feeds an editor or transcription service — it keeps full quality at a bigger size.
