Timing uses a deadline and the browser's monotonic performance clock, so a delayed background tab does not make the countdown accumulate interval drift. Audio can only start after you interact with the page.
Will the timer keep accurate time in another tab?
The display may update less often when a tab is in the background, but the remaining time is recalculated from a deadline when it paints again. It does not simply subtract one interval per tick.
Why did I not hear the beep?
Browsers block audio until a user gesture. Start the timer from this page, keep the sound option checked, and make sure the device is not muted.
Does this timer send data anywhere?
No. The timer and stopwatch state live in this browser tab. There is no account, server timer, or analytics payload containing your timing content.
