Which release date?
Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026. Campaign early access began October 16 for qualifying digital purchases, while DMZ early access is scheduled for October 20.

The MW4 launch timeline
The dates below come from the October 16 Call of Duty announcement. Early access and the full release are separate milestones.

Who can play the campaign early?
The campaign announcement includes both the Standard Digital Edition and Vault Edition. It lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Do not assume a physical pre-order has the same entitlement as the digital editions named in that announcement.
Check your order receipt for the platform, account and edition. A storefront page showing the general launch date does not, by itself, explain whether your account has early access.
Is MW4 on Game Pass at launch?
No. The official October 15 launch update says MW4 requires a separate purchase at launch and is planned for Game Pass in Holiday 2027. That is the publisher’s announced window, not a precise calendar date.
The same update distinguishes MW4 from older Call of Duty titles available through Game Pass Ultimate. If you are checking whether you already have access, match the exact game title rather than relying on the franchise name.
A short check before downloading
- Pick the mode first. Campaign, DMZ and the full release have different milestones.
- Match your purchase. Read the edition and platform on your receipt, then compare them with the official access conditions.
- Check the current launch notice. The publisher qualifies access with platform availability, time-zone differences and possible outages. A date alone is not a guarantee of an uninterrupted session.
