## About

Every generator produces an image. The differences that matter are narrower: how well it follows a long prompt, whether text inside the image comes out readable, whether you get vectors, and whether you can run it on your own machine.

## Tools

- **[FLUX](https://blackforestlabs.ai/)** (Open weights, Strong prompts) — Black Forest Labs models, strong at following detailed prompts and at keeping text in the image legible. Open weights available for local use.
- **[Midjourney](https://www.midjourney.com/)** (Hosted, Aesthetic) — Known for a polished default look with very little prompting. Less precise than FLUX when you need an exact composition.
- **[Ideogram](https://ideogram.ai/)** (Hosted, Text rendering) — Its differentiator is readable text inside generated images — posters, logos, UI mockups.
- **[Leonardo AI](https://leonardo.ai/)** (Hosted, Free tier) — Web app with fine-tuned models and a daily free allowance; a common starting point for game and product art.
- **[Recraft](https://www.recraft.ai/)** (Hosted, Vector output) — Exports SVG and keeps a consistent style across a set, which most generators still do not do.
- **[Stable Diffusion](https://stability.ai/)** (Open source, Local) — The open base most local workflows are built on. You control the model, the sampler and the hardware.
- **[FLUX layout prompt generator](https://toolpantry.app/flux-bounding-box-generator)** (Tool Pantry, Local) — Place elements at exact coordinates instead of describing them in prose, then export the prompt as JSON.

## FAQ

**Which model is best for text inside an image?**

Ideogram is built around it, and recent FLUX models handle it well. Older Stable Diffusion checkpoints are the weakest at this.

**Can I use these commercially?**

It depends on the model and the plan, and the terms change. Check the licence of the exact model you use, not the brand name.

**What does "open weights" actually get me?**

You can run the model locally, fine-tune it, and keep prompts off someone else’s servers. It also means you supply the GPU.
